| Answer: Hi Steffi!
Mocha is a pretty neutral color, so you've got lots of options for your accent wall. One thing to think about is color intensity. Mocha tends to be a pretty dark, intense color, so you might want to go for a lighter color on the wall. If you are not looking for a huge contrast, I think champagne or even a mustardy, earthy yellow would look great. You could also try a muted brick red or a light violet with some red in it to warm it up. These colors would all match the warmness of your mocha furniture and drapes. For more drama, look to cooler colors like jade green, turquoise, and sky blue. Whatever you choose, I think you should steer clear of another neutral, like brown, gray, or beige. These colors might make the mocha look less rich. |
| Answer: I agree that you need a color that is a little lighter than the mocha. I've used Benjamin Moore's Desert Tan in several houses and the color is just great. It has some mustard yellow qualities to it in the right light, but otherwise it is just a rich, warm yellow tan. If you really want that wall to stand out, consider doing a light texture on that wall only. That's one painting skill you can pick up through a free weekend class at a home improvement store. |
