Q&A | Heating and Cooling : water heater flameout problem

Title of Question: water heater flameout problem

Name:david johnston  City: vallejo
Question: I have a fairly new GE waterheater that seems to be starving itself of oxygen in a a couple of seconds and will flameout. When this happens I can't relight the pilot light for several minutes. If I just light the pilot it burns for a couple of minutes and then slowly goes out. seems to have gas but no air. The air inlets on the side were pretty dusty but cleaning them seemed to do nothing, and there are no other areas I can reach to clean.
