Question: I have a10 year old, 25 foot tall Cleveland Pear tree (like a bradford pear) with a 10 inch diameter trunk. Last week a wind storm broke half the tree off. It now looks like a drawing of a tree that someone cut in half. Now from where the crotch was (about 4 foot from the ground) before the one major limb was broken off, the trunk is split in half down about a foot from where the branch snapped off leaving full trunk diameter from their down. The break will catch water as time goes on. What can be done to help this tree recover?
