Rate of Flow
The rate of your pump's flow is measured in gallons per minute or gallons per hour. It tells you the amount of water that will flow past a certain point in a certain amount of time. The higher you pump's rate of flow, the fresher you pool's water will be.
Generally, try to get a pump with a rate of flow that accounts for a 2:1 ratio with your pool's capacity. If your pool can hold 6 000 gallons of water, get a pump that has a rate of flow of 3 000 gallons per hour.
