Floor

Name: juan  City:

Question: the current armstrong flooring in my bathroom has stains which appear to have come from underneath the vinyl. the floor is also off level by about 1/4 inch. The old floor was glued down. I want to replace the floor and was wondering what the best way to level the floor out is,and if I should: a) put a new floor on top of the old one b) tear up the old one and then put on a new one. I am planning on selling the house within 6 months.

Answer: You did not say how far your floor is 1/4 inch out of wack. In other words 1/4 inch in a 1 foot run is really bad. But 1/4 inch in a four or five foot run isnt so bad. I would tear it back to the sub floor. Put your new floor over the existing sub floor.
