Title of Question:

Tub/Shower Surrounds

Name: LCHolmes  City: glenburn

Question: Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to install a shower/tub surround wall especially if the sheet rock that would be behind the surround is not in the very best condition. Making a very long story short, this wallboard had gotten wet and as soon as I became aware of this fact, until I can make repairs, that tub/shower has been placed "off limits" to prevent severe damage and I did use some anti-mold/mildew treatments at that time. We want this shower back in use of course but due to budget restraints I'm probably going to have to do most of the repairs/replacements myself. I know that I can get a surround "kit" at home depot for reasonable cost, IF I can manage to install it with just minimal assistance from a family member. I also want to ask if anyone has ever heard of or dealt with a company called "bathfitters" ?? I've gotten a few fliers from them in my postal mail, I have no idea how expensive they are but their ads say they can complete your transformation in one day and offer the option of removing the tub totally to replace it with either a regular size seamless shower or seamless shower surround the length of your standard tub dementions. I find that option very appealing as I am disabled and have progressing illnesses that very well may at some point make it quite difficult to navigate a tub. I'd like input on not just their cost but mostly on their product quality if of course anyone here is familiar with this company. TIA lcholmes
