Rebuilding An Enclosed Patio/Sunroom

Question: Our landlord recently had our patio structure torn down (the screening and aluminum framework) and had a "carport roof" put over the empty shell of what was left of our patio (a cement slab and a brick wall). Since there is no new sunroom/enclosed patio in sight for us, I am taking the project on myself. I have some rough ideas of what I want to do, but need some options/opinions/ideas as to how to attach the wooden framing (2x4's and 4x4's) to the new "carport roof" which I believe is alumnium with a styrofoam core. Any takers??
