Title of Question:

Window Repair

Name: Hunter  City: York

Question: We recently purchased a house built in 1990, and the home inspector said that the windows were original (and cheap), and many of them need the "sash restrain rods" repaired. As far as I can tell, the sash restrain rods are spiral pieces of metal that run vertically along the sides of the window. Is their purpose to keep the window in the open position? How do we repair/replace these rods? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer: My house was built in 1999. I have the same problem! Have you found any help for the problem? Some of my rods slide out the bottom when I open the windows; it's frustrating! Please let me know!!!
