Craftsman 1/2Hp - Remote Won'T Work

Question: After changing all batteries, resetting entire system, outside remote will not work when attempting to open door from outside garage. The remote will, however, work if garage door is open. In other words, leaving is no problem, but returning to the garage? - forget it! I also checked the sensors and they're both ok. Ideas, anyone? (Other than replacing with anything but a Craftsman!)
