Question: bottom board of window sill rotten on outside of house..how do I replace this or should I hire someone. If I hire, approximately how much should it cost. Location is Kansas - rural area.

Answer: The sill is usually an itegral part of the window meaning to replace the sill you need to replace the window....Sometimes you can simply chisel the old sill out and make a replacement....Other times if the rot is not too severe you can simply clad it with aluminum or vinyl....Bottom line is unless you have some pretty good carpenty skills, it's best to call a contractor.
