Sliding Window No Longer Can Lock

Question: A large sliding glass window no longer can lock (swivel lock). The slider, when closed, no longer sets past the fixed window, so the swivel lock can't slide between the two windows. I've cleaned the track, and even with force cannot get the slider far enough past the fixed window to lock. Any suggestions?
