Title of Question:

3/4 Emt Under Concrete Patio

Name: Tom Patti  City: Saulk Village ILL

Question: I added a garage to my house and to power it I was going to run wire under my patio thu the pipe I have under my patio which I have my storage shed on but I pulled all the wire out to put all new wire in but now I can't get even the fish tape in nothing broke off that I know of or that I could see. Is there a way to run new pipe under the concrete with out breaking it up.

Answer: You will probably need to run your new wire underground alongside of the patio....Check your local electric code office for how deep and whether your new UF rated cable must be in waterproof conduit.

Answer: You could try using a vacuum to pull a string through the existing conduit. Try tying a piece of plastic from a garbage bag (small piece) in the shape of a parachute to some small string. Suck the string/parachute thru the pipe with the vacuum. Then, if you get that thru the conduit, use the string to assist the fishtape thru the pipe.
