Cutting Wires

Question: I have a ceiling fan and the light fixture has fallen down hanging by the electrical wires. Is is okay to cut the wires and push them into the fan, eliminating the fixture???

Answer: Cut them as long as you can and cap them with wire nuts. You should be able to disconnect them at the fixture without any cutting. That way someone could use them again. Make SURE power is off before you mess with the wires.

Answer: 99% of all light fixtures for ceiling fans are connected to the power supply by a wiring harness....You simply need to disconnect the light kit wiring from the power supply by separating the plastic harness. Doing so will require no wire cutting nor capping.
