Kitchen Lighting

Question: Kitchen reno, we are replacing a beat up old flourescent ceiling light with a new ceiling light (not flourescent). From the gang box I have two white, two black, 1 red (plus ground). Th new light has two black, two white, as it takes two bulbs. I've tried pretty much every combo, and always end up with one or both on, but the light switch unable to turn the lights off. Help!!!! Thanks.
