Wiring For New Canister Lights Unsafe?

Question: I'm installing new canister lights into an existing celining. The lights have the IC rating (can be covered with insulation). I'm running the NM cable for these lights parallel to the joists. This means that the cable touches the canisters when it runs to the other lights. Is this a safety problem, or are these IC lights cool enough not to effect the NM cable insulation?
