How To Build A Split Rail Fence?

Question: I have close to 20 acres of wooded land and I thought it would be interesting to cut my own trees down and build a split rail fence. So I was wondering if anyone has any advice. For instance what type of tree would make a good fence? How big around should the tree be? Do I strip the bark off after I cut it down or do I wait for it to dry out some? Any advice would be great or if someone knows of a book that I could read on the subject. Thanks
