Installing A Snow Fence

Question: i am trying to make this buffalo winter easier by installing a snow fence. from what i read i shouldn't have it right next to my driveway as i planned because the snow falls right in front of the fence. but i cant find how far away i should put it... should i put it on the other side of my property line?
