Title of Question:

Joint Compound Residue In Grain Of Hardwood Floor

Name: Scott  City: syracuse

Question: Our hardwood floors have been stained and have 2 coats of hi gloss poly on them. The 3rd coat of poly is to be applied when the kitchen remodel is complete. However, the dust from sanding the joint compound on the ceiling has embedded it self into the gaps and depths of the grains of the oak hardwoods. The 2nd coat of poly was done more than 2 months prior to the joint compound, so I think it had plenty of time to dry. I tried mopping with water several times. I tried using a stiff brush to remove it with and without water, but neither seems to work. Any suggestions on how to remove the dust from the grains and gaps?
