Answer: Simple...build it to code. Not sure how to do that? Hire a professional. (Watching a 'home improvement show' does NOT show the reality. Most projects take hours, days, or weeks to accomplish, not 30 minutes, and the skill level required is much higher then you think. Most of the 'professionals' you see on TV are simply good actors.
