insulating exterior wall

Question: interior walls are lath & plaster .Have siding & outside wall removed 2x4 are exposed. whats the best way to insulate and get a good R value plus vaper barrier on insidewall

Answer: With 2x4 walls all you can get is a compressed R13 faced fiberglass batt between them. The paper facing will go toward the lath and plaster. To increase the R factor of the wall, add at least 1 inch of rigid foam insulation over the new sheathing before you reside.
