Title of Question:

Repairing subflooring

Name: cgrant  City:

Question: We are in the process of retiling our bathroom and found that there is previous waterdamage along the entire front tub. The subfloor crumbly and I am concerned whether or not I have to take the bathtub out to repair this. Any suggestions? I would hate to be taking a shower one day and fall into the basement!

Answer: Whether or not you need to remove the tub to replace subflooring depends upon the extent of damage and where floor joists lie and in which direction they run.
