Heater Does Not Last On Keeps Shuting Down

Question: my heater does not blow wajot air,when i set the themostat it will heat up then when it reaches the desired temperature it will shut off normally but when the temperatur get low and the heater kicks in it only lasts about 20 to 40 seconds and then the flames shut down and the fan kicks in which it only blows cold air what should i do to correct this problem
