Mobile Home Heater Keeps Clicking On And Off.

Question: When I turn my heater(mobile home) up or on, it will keep clicking on and off until I turn it higher. Whenever the temp gets within 2-4 degrees to what it is set for, the fan will stay on but instead of the heater turning off, it will click on and off until I turn the thermostat down several degrees. I just replaced the thermostat today as it started doing this two days ago. There is now also another sound coming from inside the furnace once it starts clicking on and off(kind of like a small crackle sound). Any ideas?
