Turning Down A Pilot Light Flame.

Question: I have an old Payne Heater, Series 150. Model # 80fau-12. I just moved into the house and the pilot light is burning like a torch. It is not a small flame. I was woundering if there is away to turn down the flame on the pilot light so it is not so high?
