Attic Conversion Inset Deck

Question: I have the idea of insetting a deck into my attic conversion. The attic is a double gable and high enough clearance space to idealy take a portion of roof out and make it an inset deck. Basic problems would be rafter support and of course water management. If anyone has any ideas or any points of wisdom. Please add before I submit my final drawings.
