Vinyl Pool Liner

Question: My vinyl liner came loose in a couple of places and I was having trouble getting it to stretch back into place. We've had a lot of rain lately, and now enough water has gotten behind the liner that it's completely away from the sides, especially in the shallow end of the pool.

Answer: can you maybe push the water out by getting in the pool and simply pressing the vinyl liner against the sides of the pool?
