Question: does anyone know if in absecon NJ it is "illegal" to have a basement bedroom?

Answer: It is not illegal to have a basement bedroom providing that the bedroom meets building codes for emergency egress and rescue.....This usually means at least two means of escape usually thru a door and a window....If you cannot meet your local code requirments, the basement bedroom would be illegal and dangerous...Call you local code office for details.
