Admiral Refrig Too Cold

Question: Admiral 216 HMG62163 (about 1990-91, s/side) freezes most foods on lower two shelves as well as in drawers, even with temp at warmest settings. Freezer is running extremely cold, too. Fan seems to run most of time--maybe "all" but not sure about that. Can't differentiate between fan noise and compressor (never could). Also, concurrent with the extreme cold temperatures, the water dispenser and ice maker didn't work for 2 or 3 days. I.e., no water to either unit and ice motor wouldn't turn over. I couldn't turn it by hand. Then water disp srtarted working intermittently. Next day, ice maker started again, filling and dispensing. Now, cold water dispenser doesn't work and food still freezes; ice maker okay for now. Are these thermostat-related issues? Can you recommend a good troubleshooting or repair manual, or is "The Admiral" ready to be retired? Will dirty grills cause such problems?
