Title of Question:

G.E. Xl44 Spectra ...Oven Quit Working.

Name: Robin Buddi  City: Sioux City, Iowa

Question: This is only 5 yrs old, and now suddenly the oven has quit working entirely. The stove burners still work just fine, however the oven doesn't heat at all. My guess is that it's the electric igniter, ..can't smell gas or anything, but I imagine this likely due to a safety feature that doesn't allow gas flow if the igniter has went south. I'm mechanically inclined and confident that I can repair this myself, however, I'd like to know more before I attempt to do so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!! Robin

Answer: *****UPDATE***** Please disregard this inquiry. I took a good look at the ignitor, and wiggled a few wires to see if perhaps there might've been a bad connection. Put it back together and TA-DAH!! It now works just fine. Problem solved, ...for now anyway. Thanks!!! Robin

Answer: Well, (lol!) ..it seemed to work fine again for a few times. HOWEVER, it's now obvious that this igniotor needs to be replaced. Any idea where I can find a relacement ignitor? The part number listed on the side of the ignotor itself is: 205C1398G3 ...please advise. Thanks a million!! Robin

Answer: yoru right Robin it is a safety feature, sound like your pilot is not heating your the switch to allow the gas flow, is has to reach a certain temp to open the valve, if the pilot or igniter seems to workin fine , you may need to replace the flow valve

Answer: Youre right, the gas wont flow if the ignitor is faulty, it is a safety feature. I replaced the ignitor and valve on mine, (oven quit) had no problems since.
