Gas Hot Water Heater

Question: I have a natural gas hot water heater. Usually in the mornings when no other appliances are consuming hot water, the amount of hot water for a shower is fine. Other days, I can turn the hot water all the way on and it's still not hot enough. I have a 60 gallon tank so I know it's not the length of shower I'm taking. It is an intermittent problem I can't solve.
