Title of Question:

Painting Double Hung Windows

Name: William Zame  City:

Question: What parts of double hung windows should I paint? In particular, should I paint the insides, where the windows run up and down? Wouldn't this make them stick?

Answer: The whole window should be painted as to leave bear wood, would allow dampness to ingress. But I take your point about sticking. Where you have identified a possible problem, use only primer, this will give protection and colour without the thickness of paint that undercoat and gloss give.

Answer: If they stick after painting, rub some bar soap on the edges. It won't discolor your work, but it will make the windows slide freely.

Answer: Most definetly, the fit is snug and by intruding the integrity of this seal would prove to be ineffective.
