Title of Question:

Roof Leaked Now Have Ceiling Damage

Name: Lisa  City: Mont Clare

Question: We had a snowstorm this past weekend and on Tuesday moring we woke up to water dripping into our dining room and the ewall bulging from water buildup. The snow has been removed from the roof and the gutters have been cleared of ice. We did drill holes to relieve the water that was building up behid the wall, soffit and ceiling. There is water damage to the soffit where the heater duct runs as well as to the wall. There are already visible water stains on the soffit and wall, and the plaster is peeling all along the soffit. What needs to be done to repair this problem - aside from making sure that the proper repairs have been done to the roof.

Answer: Replace all damaged areas. If only stained, use a stain covering type of paint (primer), then paint over.

Answer: Thank you for the info. We did plan on having any damaged areas replaced. How can we tell if the wood and sheetrock needs to be replaced or should be given time to dry out completely. TIA Lisa
