Question: When there is a thaw and the ground is still frozen, water builds up in a low area where culvert is blocked by ice and snow. The result is that the water rises above the inlet to the septic system and enters the basement. A small sump in the basement has proven to be inadequate. Is there anything that can be done outside to relieve the problem? Would a french sump in the low area be a possible solution?
