Removing Laminate From Brass

Question: many brass products available today , have a laminate coating , that in time peels and cracks etc, i want to remove the coating ,i tried heating the surface with a heat gun to no effect , the best method ive found so far is using an old credit card to scrape the laminate from the brass surface , my question is ? Is there a better method or is there a product i can use to remove the laminate from the brass without damaging the brass
