Title of Question:

Repairing Marble

Name: Catherine Falcao  City: Red Bank

Question: I have a 55"x11"x1" piece of Carrara marble that's been in my family for years that unfortunately was broken during a move. I have kept the 2 pieces and would like to somehow join them together again and make a cabinet with an inset that it would fit into. It broke at a slant and the movers tried to glue it back together so there's residue on it that would need to be removed before even trying to get it back together. Is it possible to do this or would I be better off cutting it in a straight line? How would I go about removing the glue residue without damaging the marble and how would I get them "glued" back together?
