Tecumseh Snow Blower

Question: After plugging the electric extention cord in to start the snow blower it blows the fuses in the house. It is a 10hp 2 stage snow blower. 120v I am getting ready to order a new starter and install it. Am i on the right track? Is there any tricks to installing a new starter?
