enlarging a brick paver patio

Question: I've got an existing (8 year old) brick paver patio that I would like to enlarge by about 130sqft. Any tips for making sure the new section matches the level of the existing? Like, after I screed the sand and place the bricks, how much will the sand compact when I tamp? 1/4"? 1/2"?

Answer: provided that the sand is well compacted that should be it, as you cannot compress sand.
