Question: Our young redbud tree's trunk was split during a thunderstorm two days ago. It is still connected above ground. Is it possible to save the broken part? Thanks.

Answer: Bind the two parts together, as long as the bark is intack it should and will still grow, but will always carry he scare. You may have to re-bind over time as the tree grows, but leave bound for at least 12 months.

Answer: To add to the first answer: I have used long strips of cut tire innertube to do this as it "gives" a little. It will look ugly for awhile but..nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Answer: I shaved a small bit of bark off of a Pear Tree while weeding. Can this be repaired, and how? Thanks

Answer: I am hopeful because I have just had my 2 year old silver burch blown over the same way resulting in split trunk. I have binded and splinted it...... hoping, hoping
