Leak Around Chimney

Question: We had our roof redone about 3 years ago. This was prompted by a leak with heavy rain around the chimney with heavy rain. We can see where the chimney meets the roof as we have a cape cod house and have direct access to the attic. Despite the reroof and multiple attempts at reflashing, the leaking continues. We had a chimney expert come and he says no problem with the brick chimney. Our roofer suggested painting the chimney with a sealer. Does anyone have experience this this and what material should you use
