Roof Deck Insulation

Question: Can I use a foam blow in insulation called Icynene in my ceiling which is a deck on top? My architect says I need to vent front to back with soffit and plastic vents stapled between joists and 2in holes opposite end from soffits using normal batted insulation. Now I want to use Icynene which is a foam blown between joists, Icynene says we don't need any type of ventilation-I'm confused, also roof is made out of 3/4 PT plywood with rubber membrane roof which is the deck. Thanks.
