Question: I am looking to buy a home (single family) two story brick on slab. A portion of the slab was replaced 3 years ago alongwith the harwood flooring. The company has provided a lifetime guarantee on that work. The owner also has another quote to jack and support brace with a metal support system in the attic. Apparently there has been a problem with separation of the sheetrock (small area which was repaired). I haven't seen any other shifting. The hiome was inspected and the inspector concurred with this work. I am wondering if this is something I should stay away from or if this work is done would the home be okay? The house is 9 years old. There is some cracking in the brickwork above the first floor level...The foundation appears good. The roof is steep pitch angle, shingled roof...The shingles appear in good shape. The inspector stated some flashing work is needed around the chimney. Downspouts appear to be working well.
