Title of Question:

Separating Roof Rafters

Name: Dave  City: St. Louis

Question: I recently discovered that the roofing on one corner of my brick home built in 1925 seems to be pushed out about 2 inches and has managed to loosen and nearly push out 2 different bricks where the top of the outside wall meets the roof. The bricks or mortar seams dont show any sign of cracking so I believe the wall to be ok. Upon inspecting the attic, I found a few rafters pulling away at the peak, not in a row but every 2 or 3 maybe. Ther doesnt seem to be any rot or termite damage. Could I pull these serparations back to the peak using a chain hoist or come a long?? Please help. Thanks so much Dave D.
