Cable Laying Across Roof

Question: I recently had Dish network installed. They came out and put satellite on my roof, and laid the cable on my roof from front to back, as well as to one side. It looks terrible, but installer said it is only way that can be done. Is this normal. I am worry about wind either tearing up cable, or the cable damaging my new roof.
