Question: i'm thinking of buying a satellite system but don't knwo who to go with - Direct tv or Dish. does anyone know if one is better than the other?

Answer: Wehave had DirecTV for five years and really like it. Currently, however, we are experiencing the worst reception in history. It began on Monday and tech support does not know when it will be repaired.
Conversely, DirecTV has the NFL Ticket which we purchase every year but is not available on any other system -- cable included. It also does not carry NFL.com, which is a must in our home.
That being said, we are seriously considering changing our service to Dish TV as we cannot currently watch any TV.
Hope this helps.

Answer: Ownership has it's privleges.... DirecTV has ownership and costs, Dish is a glorified Lease, and is subject to some equipment issues. However, either will provide you with terriffic service if ITS PROPERLY INSTALLED. It' really a matter of the quality of the initial work. I personally, have next to zero issues with my customers, because I treat their home like it's mine when I install their systems. I install both, so it's not a preference. I have DirecTV because of the sports options not availabe from Dish, but Dish has significant HDTV advantages over DirecTV right now, so it's a two way street, and more what you want, than which is better.
For Freye, I would hope by now, of course that you have your issues resolved. If you didn't get this fixed, and it's probably a misaligned dish, or a tree growing into your line of site, (after five years anything is possible), then you've prob gone to Dish. I hope you got it figured out.

Answer: Question: We currently have Cable mainly due to internet access and our business need for internet high speed and functionality. I am not too impressed with cable, but DSL is not available in our area. I understand satellite groups offer internet service. How is it compared to cable for speed and reliability?
