Question: Hi, I bought a house with aluminimum siding, but underneath is wood siding apparently made from cypress. My inspector said that since it is cypress the wood probably isn't in that bad of shape, although replacing some pieces will probably be necessary. I hate aluminum siding and would love to just peel it off, sand and paint, but am curious to whether anyone else has ever had any experience with this. Am I about to bite off more than I can chew? Also, if I get in over my head, who would I call to remedy the situation. I know there are exterior painters, but who do you call to remove aluminum siding and then repair the wood underneath?
