How To Use A Caulking Gun

Question: I have put the cartridge into the gun and turned the the silver lever, for quite awhile it seems. When I squeeze the handle though, nothing happens. It is new caulk that I bought today. Just how do I go about this to make it work? Need answer ASAP!

Answer: Did you punch a hole in the seal? Stick a nail (or similar) in the end of the spout, then try again.
