Crown Moulding Repair

Question: The joint between the crown moulding in our kitchen is apparent since it was installed 4 yrs. go. We've tried wood putty & sanded but it still shows. Is there a type of skin or something like the tape they use for drywall that would cover it & we could then paint it (white) again.
