Answer: Hi Woodslee. I've been at the drywall trade for many years, so here's my take. Minimums: l. no blisters (insufficient mud under the tape) 2. joints are flat, not humped. Yes, there will be a subtle rise over the joint but not noticeable when you are just looking at it. 3. no tool marks or ridges. Smooth, sanded if necessary, but not exposing the tape. 4. a minimum of two coats over the long joints, three over the butt joints Hope this helps.
