Big Hammer's Real Estate the Smart Way

An Agent May Not Always Be The Right Agent - For You

Take It And Run: Ilyce's Corner
By Ilyce Glink for Right at Home Daily

Hiring a real estate agent is a little like setting up a short-term marriage: You need to find someone who is knowledgeable about the area and is a good listener. Most importantly, you need to find someone with whom you have good chemistry because you're going to be spending a lot of time together.

When you're interviewing various agents, you'll certainly want to ask them questions about what kind of clients they represent, how many homes they help clients buy and sell each year, and what size and price these homes are. And you'll want to hear about how long they've worked in your preferred neighborhood.

But you'll also want to find out about who they are as individuals. Do they smoke? Do they like to stay out at night? How do they go about finding the right home for their clients? These little details can tell you a lot about who this agent is as a person and what kind of chemistry you might have together.

Ask other house-hunters all your real estate agent questions in our forum
