If guests are on the horizon, you might be looking at your hall bath with trepidation. Will they notice the broken floor tile and the dripping faucet? Maybe not, but you might feel better if you could give the room a new look.

Whether you’re doing a full bathroom remodeling or just adding updates, remember that a little creativity can go a long way in this functional, but highly visible room for guests. As HGTV notes, focus on making it warm, upscale, and inviting.

Contractor To Do’s

With the right contractor and a few weeks of bathroom remodeling, you can:

  • Add a shower. Shower stalls are all the rage today as they combine glamour with a quick bathing process. If your guests have sightseeing to do, let them shower and run. If they want to soak under a 9-inch rainshower, add that perk. Ask your contractor about options in glass enclosures, rustic stone tile, and shower seats. Look to Kohler for more ideas.
  • Add furniture. Use bathroom remodeling to add a vanity with carved legs and a rich granite countertop. Top it off with a vessel sink and a high arching faucet.
  • Get smart with storage. Bathroom storage can take many shapes, but make it plentiful! Try wood cabinets with a chocolate glaze or a sleek glass medicine cabinet.
  • Add a burst of color. A bathroom remodeling that includes a red sink or wall of blue tile can wow guests. Also ask your contractor for a unique granite countertop with interesting speckles. Coordinate one of those background colors with your wall tile.
  • Light it up. Decorative wall sconces, like these from the Lighting Style blog, add the perfect finishing touch to any bathroom remodeling. Ask your contractor to recommend two or three coordinating lights.

In just a few short weeks, with your bathroom remodeling behind you, and you could be in rare form for those overnight guests.

Good choice of glaze with the cabinets; most kinds of wood would do nicely, most people prefer oak or maple with a nice glaze as a standard for contemporary cabinets.
